Different jobs in Formwork Industry.

Formwork Supervisor / site foreman

A Formwork supervisor or site foreman typically supervises the daily operations of work onsite to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and in accordance with specifications and quality requirements.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

      • Supervise and manage labour teams to complete work in accordance with specifications and to achieve quality, accuracy and time requirements.
      • Coordinate and direct employees, subcontractors, traders and suppliers onsite to achieve project requirements.
      • Act as the Site Safety Officer and be responsible for the health and safety of workers onsite.
      • Review and control hazards as they are arise. Escalate to Project Manager where hazard poses a risk to health and safety of workers and cannot be controlled or eliminated readily.
      • Preparation, upkeep and implementation of site documentation including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
      • Undertake site inductions.
      • Ensure workers are not permitted onsite until they have completed all necessary inductions.
      • Assist in the ordering of required materials and equipment.
      • Assisting with general onsite labouring and manual handling tasks as required.
      • Operate, maintain and secure storage of various construction tools, plant and equipment.
      • Conduct thorough checking and self-checking of information and/or documentation.
      • General site maintenance and upkeep as required.
      • Manage, supervise, develop and engage staff reporting to the position.
      • Assisting with Implementation of General and Specific On-Site Procedures.
      • Proactively plan, manage, coordinate, track and run assigned project tasks.
      • Assisting other Contractors/Trades on site as required.
      • Perform any other duties as reasonably required by the Project Manager and the Company.
      • Adopt continuous learning and improvement processes in all aspects of the position.
      • Understand, implement, participate and promote Company Policies and Procedures, and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) objectives, processes and procedures.

Key Skills & Experience

Qualifications Required

      • WorkCover Site Induction Training Card.
      • First Aid Certificate.
      • Class C NSW Driver’s Licence.


FORMWORK Carpenter

Formwork Carpenters (also known as Falsework Carpenters) typically work on large scale construction or civil projects, assembling the moulds that retain wet concrete of foundations and other concrete structures.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

      • Conduct general Carpentry work onsite.
      • Interpret plans and drawings.
      • Proactively plan, manage, coordinate, track and undertake assigned tasks.
      • Assist in the ordering of required materials and equipment.
      • Assist with general onsite labouring including demolition, excavation and digging, waste removal, material handling and collection.
      • Operation, maintenance and secure storage of various construction tools, plant and equipment.
      • Upkeep and implementation of site documentation as required.
      • General site maintenance and upkeep as required and directed.
      • Assisting other Contractors/Trades on site as required.
      • Perform any other duties as reasonably required by the Site Foreman and the Company.
      • Conduct thorough checking and self-checking of information and/or documentation.
      • Provide regular reviews and reporting to Site Foreman as required.
      • Adopt continuous learning and improvement processes in all aspects of the position.
      • Understand, implement, participate and promote Company Policies and Procedures, and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) objectives, processes and procedures.

Key Skills & Experience

Qualifications Required

      • Trade certification/qualification as a Carpenter, or equivalent.
      • WorkCover Site Induction Training Card.
      • Class C Driver’s Licence.


FORMWORK Labourer

Formwork labourers perform general labouring duties, including erecting, using and dismantling formwork.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

      • General onsite labouring including erection, dismantling, demolition, excavation and digging, waste removal, material handling and collection.
      • Operation, maintenance and secure storage of various construction tools, plant and equipment.
      • Assist with the loading and unloading of tools, equipment, and supplies from suppliers and Company vehicles, as required.
      • Cleaning of plant, equipment, supplies, vehicles and tools.
      • General cleaning activities to ensure the safe and clean upkeep of the site.
      • General site maintenance and upkeep as required and directed.
      • Proactively plan, manage, coordinate, track and undertake assigned tasks.
      • Assisting other Contractors/Trades on site as required.
      • Conduct thorough checking and self-checking of information and/or documentation.
      • Perform any other duties as reasonably required by the Site Foreman and the Company.
      • Provide regular reviews and reporting to Site Foreman as required.
      • Adopt continuous learning and improvement processes in all aspects of the position.
      • Understand, implement, participate and promote Company Policies and Procedures, and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) objectives, processes and procedures.

FORMWORK Apprentice/trainee


SAFETY ADVISOR

Safety in the formwork industry is critical and is managed by qualified advisors and managers. Workplace hazards are identified, risk is assessed and policies, procedures, controls and behaviours are implemented and enforced by to maximise safety and health outcomes within the working environment.



Our members are experiencing many challenges to their businesses and the Formwork industry. Many changes and more challenges are yet to come with the increase in legislative cases, financial challenges in a COVID-19 and post COVID-19 economy and with changes to the education of formworkers and access to training.
